Project Background
The G7 commercial office project, located directly opposite the V&A Mall at the Cape Town Waterfront, represented a unique challenge and opportunity for the Accel Projects team. The client envisioned a sleek, modern workplace with meticulous electrical planning and uncompromising execution.
Given the bustling nature of the Waterfront and its role as a commercial hub, construction work was restricted. Noise levels and working hours had to be carefully managed, which meant much of the project was executed at night. Despite the tight conditions, the project was successfully delivered within 2–3 months, meeting the client’s specific and ambitious brief.
Collaboration & Partnerships
This project wasn’t a solo effort. Accel Projects was invited by Experience Makers, with whom they have completed a few small projects last year and this being the first effort. Together, they brought expertise and trust to the table.
In addition, South African LED a leading electrical engineering company partnered with Accel Projects from the Client side to guide and implement a lighting strategy that was both functional and future-ready. This partnership was key to ensuring the space delivered on energy efficiency while maintaining high performance.
Getting the project started

The G7 office required a strict blueprint that left no detail overlooked. Every cable, switch, and sensor had to be precisely placed. Key deliverables included:
- Lighting: Hundreds of energy-efficient LED lights, all fitted with motion sensors, ensuring energy savings and sustainability.
- Master Switchboard: All lighting connected to a central control system for ease of management.
- Connectivity: Complete mapping of network points, trunking, covers, desk plug points, and connections for Smart TVs and projectors.
- Specialised Spaces: Boardroom and media room lighting, dry walling fitted with plug and switch points, and guided keypad setups allowing future upgrades.
- Kitchen Features: Under-counter lighting, ceiling spots, and a central chandelier to add character to the heart of the office.
Each element was designed not just to meet the brief, but to future-proof the space for growth and evolving technology needs.

Outcome & Client Satisfaction
Despite the challenges of working in a live office environment with strict time limitations, the project was delivered on time and to the highest standard. The snag list was minimal, a testament to the planning and precision of the Accel Projects team.
The client expressed extreme satisfaction, noting the seamless execution and professional finish. Today, the G7 office offers a balance of modern design, functional technology, and energy efficiency, all framed by stunning views of the Waterfront and the Cape Town Big Wheel—an inspiring daily backdrop.
